Frequently Asked Questions
No. I work with self-identified and formally diagnosed autistic and AuDHD adults. The diagnostic process is expensive, biased, and often inaccessible. Your self-knowledge is sufficient.
No. My default modality is text-based coaching via secure chat. Video is available if you request it but never required. While live video delivers the highest impact for deep unmasking work over time, you set the pace and we can build up to video whenever you feel safe.
We can instantly switch from video to audio or live text chat mid-session without penalty or explanation. Your nervous system comes first.
You access a secure, end-to-end encrypted, and private app to message when thoughts, questions, or friction arise. This allows you to process and communicate on your own time, without the executive load or the fatigue of scheduled live calls. You simply drop your thoughts in whenever you need to, and I reply during dedicated daily response windows. We also honor your personal rhythm, so if Mondays are especially heavy for you, for example, we can keep your inbox completely clear on those days so you aren’t overwhelmed with extra processing.
For sync, live sessions, we schedule a 45-minute window. We meet on a secure text-based platform. For async chats we can also discuss using email, if you prefer. You type at your own pace. Typos don’t matter. You can review the conversation afterward. It works the same way as traditional coaching, just without auditory processing demands, no forced eye-contact, not getting stared at by someone, no small-talk, no awkward pauses, no ‘let’s sit with that’ when you’ve been ‘sitting with that’ for months or years already.
Step 1: You Share What’s Going On
It can be as simple as a quick bulleted list of things stressing you out, or just saying, “I’m stuck and I don’t even know where to start.” You might enter this space with a reflex to over-explain – just like you do every day to make sure people don’t hear things you did not say – and that is completely valid. I will typically summarize your situation back to you to give you peace of mind that the important parts are fully understood.
Step 2: We Find the Core Bottleneck
Most of the time, there isn’t just one isolated concern. My job is to look past the surface clutter to help you identify the actual bottleneck. Whether it’s sensory overload, executive dysfunction, energy depletion, unclear systems, a combination of these, or something else entirely. When we find multiple friction points, we don’t tackle them all at once. We select a single starting point and go as slow or as fast as your current capacity allows.
Step 3: We Build on Real Data, Not Homework
In follow-up sessions, we simply pick up where we left off. If a new challenge came up in your week, we discuss it. If we set ideas for you to try, observe, or evaluate between sessions, and you return feeling like you “failed” because you couldn’t do them, please know: there is zero obligation to complete homework.
Feeling like you fell short is never a reason to cancel or avoid a session. What happens between sessions – and what doesn’t happen – is valuable information, not a metric for judgment. We use that data to uncover underlying obstacles or invisible friction points we weren’t aware of yet. In this practice, all data is good data.
There are no “try harder” lectures, scolding, or gaslighting here. This is a safe, practical space to figure out what actually works for your brain.
You don’t have to force speech. We can pause, switch to audio or live text/chat, or wrap up without penalty. Silence is never punished or made weird here.
You don’t need a 5-year plan. “I’m exhausted and my kitchen is a mess” is a complete starting point. Unpacking the noise is my job, not your prerequisite.
Absolutely not. Stimming is self-regulation, hyperfixations are energy sources, and blunt communication is welcome. I accommodate your brain, and how you function best.
No mandatory homework. If a tool requires executive function you don’t currently have, the tool is broken, not you. We design zero-demand micro-systems instead. If something we discuss ever feels like homework or a chore, all you need to do is share how you feel about it. The more I know about you, the better I can design the most effective support for you.
Between now and next session, there is exactly zero obligation. If you do nothing, that is data about your capacity, not a character flaw. If you try something and it fails, that is engineering data. The only wrong outcome is forcing yourself to perform progress for my benefit.
Unmasking isn’t a light switch; it’s terrifying. You don’t have to rip the mask off on Day 1. Unmasking is a slow pacing process of safety, not a performance requirement. You move at the speed of your nervous system. Some of us don’t even know where to begin with removing the mask. And I’m here to help you find the first piece – to consider, not to rip off like a bandaid. Others have been consciously unmasking for years, and still retain some form or shape of that mask.
Let me say it this way: you don’t go to the hospital after you bled out. You go because you don’t want it to get that bad in the first place. Please come as you are. If you’re already thinking about it, it probably is a good idea. We can have our initial 20-min conversation and go from there. It’s free, you have no obligations, and I will NEVER ask you for a commitment during this call or chat. So what do you have to lose – realistically?
Autistic fatigue from guessing what neurotypical professionals “actually” mean is a valid concern. However, what I say is exactly what I mean. No neurotypical code, no hint-dropping, and no toxic positivity. Direct, clear, and deadpan.
Yes. Sit on the floor, pace your room, keep your lights off, eat a meal, or use fidget tools. Professionalism in this space means you being comfortable enough to process information.
Nonlinear thinking is welcome. Tangents are usually where the most important information lives. My job is to hold the thread and help untangle the map so you don’t need to present a clean, organized speech. There are a lot of ‘linear’ frameworks out there that are studied to work on neurotypical brains. I have discovered that nonlinear exploration can bring out a lot more actionable insights, when we’re going with the flow of your brain. Remember, these sessions are here to make your life easier, not force you to prepare a polished “TED-Talk”.
Masking is a necessary survival mechanism in unsafe environments. It is a boundary tool, not a moral failure. We focus on strategic masking, learning when it protects your safety versus when it drains your battery, and building safe unmasked zones where you don’t have to perform.
No. Traditional coaching often treats hyperfixations as “distractions” or rewards that must be earned only after completing boring tasks. We do the exact opposite by honoring monotropic flow. Your hyperfixations and special interests are not obstacles. They are an excellent engine for restoring depleted energy and building sustainable routines. Instead of trying to eliminate what brings you focus and joy, we leverage that natural flow to design systems that work with your brain, not against it.
Yes. Despite what internet memes and old medical textbooks might have you believe, loving trains is not a mandatory requirement for being autistic. Whether your hyperfixation is precision rail transport, 18th-century tax law, mechanical watches, niche video game lore, or something else entirely, I care about how your brain works in deep flow, not what topic gets you there.
The “ADHD tax” and “burnout tax” are real, heavy burdens. Most self-help tools fail because they sell you a rigid, pre-packaged system designed for a neurotypical baseline, and when high executive function is required to maintain the system, it collapses. This coaching is not another blueprint you have to force yourself to buy into. We aren’t adding more tools to your pile. Instead, we perform a friction analysis to strip away the advice that broke your trust, stop the financial cycle of trying to “fix” your brain, and build micro-supports directly around your current daily capacity. Please share any and all things you tried in the past. This is helpful information we can use to your advantage.
Fear of abandoning a investment is usually rooted in past shame cycles. Traditional programs punish drop-off with rigid attendance rules, guilt, penalties, or wasted packages. Here, fluctuating capacity is an expected part of the process, not a failure. Our pacing is flexible and low-demand by design. If you hit a wall or experience severe burnout, we scale down the interaction, switch modalities (like moving from video calls to quick text check-ins), or pause without financial penalties or guilt trips. You won’t be left paying for a system you are too exhausted to use.
Session rates are transparently positioned on the lower end of the market to maximize accessibility while keeping this practice independent and high-quality. In some cases, coaching can be paid for using HSA/FSA funds (with a simple Letter of Medical Necessity). Rather than spending money on ongoing trial-and-error products, Autistic Support is focused on targeted, functional changes, helping you prevent burnout-related income loss, streamline daily health decisions, and stop paying the hidden costs of unaccommodated executive dysfunction.
Therapy treats mental health conditions. Coaching supports behavior change, wellness, and goal attainment. Some of my clients see both a therapist and me. I do not treat depression, anxiety, or trauma, though I can help you build routines that support your overall stability.
Yes. We adapt chronic disease and health management (including nutrition, movement, rest, etc.) to fit your sensory preferences, energy limits, and executive function. Avoiding standard, one-size-fits-all medical advice.
Remote monitoring tools provide objective, visual biofeedback in real-time. This eliminates the need for tedious manual food logs and bypasses alexithymia (difficulty sensing internal body signals) by showing you exactly how food, stress, and sleep impact your body.
I cannot provide medical documentation or ADA paperwork. I can help you design “invisible accommodations”, such as communication strategies, environmental adjustments, and workflow changes that do not require formal disclosure. If you have official documents, I can also help you with communications at work, to help you get official accommodations etc.
I do not provide medical documentation or formal ADA paperwork. However, I can help you design “invisible accommodations”, such as communication strategies, environmental adjustments, and workflow modifications that do not require formal disclosure. If you already have official documentation, I can also help you draft communications for HR or your manager to help you advocate for formal workplace accommodations.
If you’re not sure what accommodations would best support you at work, and what to ask for, I help you figure that out, so you know exactly what to request.
Yes! I work with clients globally across all time zones. Because the core of my practice is asynchronous, there are no timezone restrictions or middle-of-the-night scheduling conflicts. We communicate entirely on your own schedule. Even live sessions have not yet been an issue to schedule internationally.
That is exactly when many people reach out. We will not push for productivity. We will work on stabilization, energy accounting, and the smallest possible systems to reduce your cognitive load.
Everyone starts at $0 with a free, zero-pressure 20-minute consultation (think customer service chat to answer your questions, not a sales call) to make sure we’re a great fit. You can see the full, detailed breakdown of all tiers and live session options right on the Pricing Page [Link]. All plans are completely flexible. You can pause, cancel, or switch tiers at any time as your energy, budget, and capacity change.
Only for eligible 1-on-1 sessions. Most HSA/FSA administrators accept health coaching with a simple Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your primary care physician. You may use the contact form to get a case specific evaluation upfront.
Insurance is not accepted at this time to keep this practice independent, private, and free from external restrictions. However, rates are transparently set at the lower end of the market to maximize accessibility.
A limited number of reduced-rate sliding scale slots and fully donor-funded sessions based on financial needs are available upon request. Simply ask for it using the contact form.
